Mang Serapio was brought on trial, to face his
crime of “taking care of a child (or his daughter)—a crime which, in the eyes
of the law of the Federacion, is offensive and will be dealt with severe
punishment. In front of the other pulubis/beggars and the hukom/judge, Mang
Serapio was to be prosecuted. Two tagapagtanggol (prosecuting attorneys) asked
him hand in hand of certain questions that may or may not indict his crime, and
may or may not prove his innocence.
